Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream: 300 Calories, 30g Protein, Actually Tastes Good

The premise sounds too good to be true: ice cream under 300 calories with 30 grams of protein. Most attempts at this produce something that tastes like frozen protein shake. The Ninja Creami makes it possible to get genuinely good texture — but only if you build the base correctly.

Why the Ninja Creami works for high-protein ice cream

Traditional ice cream makers churn while freezing, incorporating air gradually. The Ninja Creami does the opposite: you freeze a solid base, then the machine shaves and processes it under pressure, breaking down ice crystals into something smooth. This mechanical action can make a low-fat, high-protein base taste far creamier than the ingredients alone would suggest — provided the base is formulated correctly.

The base formula

This is the foundation for a 300-calorie, 30g protein pint. Scale up or adjust flavour from here:

  • 250ml Fairlife milk (or any higher-protein milk)
  • 150g low-fat cottage cheese (blended completely smooth before mixing)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (~25g protein, ~120 kcal)
  • 1 tbsp sugar-free vanilla pudding mix (texture stabiliser)
  • Sweetener to taste (erythritol, allulose, or monk fruit)
  • Pinch of salt

Blend everything until completely smooth. Pour into the Creami pint to the max fill line. Freeze flat for 24 hours minimum.

Processing

Remove from freezer. Let sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes. Run on the Ice Cream setting. If the result is crumbly or icy, add 1–2 tablespoons of milk and Re-spin. This usually solves it.

Flavour variations on the same base

Chocolate: Add 2 tbsp cocoa powder + chocolate protein powder instead of vanilla.
Strawberry: Add 50g frozen strawberries + strawberry protein powder.
Cookie Dough: Use vanilla base, mix in sugar-free mini chocolate chips and small pieces of protein cookie after processing (Mix-in function).
Salted Caramel: Add 1 tsp caramel extract + small pinch of sea salt.

The macros

Using the base formula above, approximate macros per full pint:

  • Calories: 280–310
  • Protein: 28–32g
  • Carbs: 18–22g (mostly from milk)
  • Fat: 5–8g

You can eat the entire pint. That is the point.
